Right, that’s it British Summer you’re in MASSIVE trouble okay! What exactly do you think you are playing at, don’t you realise that we all need some serious sun? And not this hide and seek business I mean a massive chunk of endless sun to truly relax in, to make waking up and starting the day exciting and atmospheric, to remind us of summers past… not just some edgy moments where we rush to the sun spot before the cloud covers (or perpetually just as the cloud covers if you are me) and then we look to the horizon and, oh yes, there’s a whopping great grey cloud, and look to the left and, oh God, the clouds are black there, and, oh right, it’s raining now… I fear for us this winter there’ll be riots, again.
I advocate mass colour therapy via a plant-based diet ♥
Just looking at this lime relaxes me. That green… I also love the random appearance of ‘Father?’ in this picture. These words and meanings are flying around in all our minds, intensely psychological beings that we are. And my father would LOVE these lollies too, especially as they’re refined sugar-free and fruit only, as he has type 2 diabetes and keeps to a sugar-free diet. They’re not fancy, but they’re delicious, natural and healthy to eat; what’s not to love?
Limes are such a wonderful fruit. I never get used to their taste, it is always a lovely surprise. As lemons are, inside the body they’re alkaline-forming, which is highly anti-inflammatory and creates an internal environment conducive to healing. Eating alkaline food gives your body a fighting chance of warding off illnesses, and healing from those it already has, it is also anti-aging. It gives you a head start. The benefits of eating loads of fruit and veg in your diet are vast.
Raspberries also are extremely healthy, anti-inflammatory fruit, low sugar, and great for arthritics. Do buy organic if possible, as they absorb and are sprayed with a lot of chemicals, and the same applies for apples too.
an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Ginger is a mega-root, boosting the immune system, and great for settling the stomach. And turmeric is powerfully anti-inflammatory and just a wonderful fragrant root. Stevia also is a healthy natural sweetener, which is strongly alkaline and so very good for you. I use stevia drops as they are purer than the granulated form, taste better and are suitable for coeliacs. Stevia allows me to have sweet food without any type of sugar.
All in all these lollies will please your sweet tooth, and please your eye, and please your body too. I can’t get enough of them I’ve gone a bit (lolly) mad ♥
- 3 cups of apple and ginger fruit juice (approx)
- Handful of raspberries
- 10 drops of stevia
- Half a lime
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder/ finely grated root
Use either freshly juiced ginger and apple, or non-concentrate juice from a carton, mix with the juice of half a lime, the stevia and turmeric. Pour the juice mix into the lolly casings, leaving a little space, and add the raspberries by hand, as much as you want. Top up with juice to finish if there's a gap, or add more fruit. Put into the freezer the night before, and they'll be ready for the next day.
You can use lemon instead of lime, and vary the fresh fruit, but I love this combination ♥
I bought non concentrated (spellcheck wants me to say unconsecrated, ha!) apple and ginger juice for these lollies, but to make your own would be much healthier and tastier too!
