Hello! I am on a new anti-inflammation drive, to get as healthy as I can be, and I’m beginning every day with a fresh fruit and vegetable juice, such as this gorgeous beetroot and berry juice, which is packed with goodness and tastes amazing.
So much has happened since I last posted! Rae is growing fast, no longer a baby she is walking, laughing, pointing, talking, chasing Tiger, knowing her own wonderful mind and keeping me, and Dan, very busy! She has silver shoes and a ladybird backpack, the straps of which she loves to clip and unclip. We have recently all moved house, which was an… (gulp) experience. It has brought some really positive changes and a more light and family-friendly living space, which is great for Rae. But we’re still in the midst of it, unsettled, smoked out of our valley burrow. My arthritis is bad at the moment and I am so tired all the time, which is fybrobyalgia flaring up, difficult type 1 diabetes, a weak immune system, breast-feeding Rae… the list goes on. I can’t just sit back and let it happen I have to do everything I can to strengthen myself.
New start, new home, new light, new vibe, new food. I want colour, inspiration and fresh, healthy, easy food that makes me feel fabulous (or at least half-decent).
let’s go for it!
I know that through diet and exercise (I have started pilates, it’s wonderful!!) I can help myself so much. I have done it before. And I know that this is so powerful and important to share, so here I am! Keeping the blog and sharing recipes and photos helps me keep positive and motivated too. So I am sticking my neck out, daring myself again. To find the time to do what I love, when I can, to share whatever I want to share, when I can share it. No worries.
I am trying 16/8 intermittent fasting, which means an eating ‘window’ of 8 hours a day, I’ve chosen 12-8pm, and fasting at other times. For me I am not truly fasting a.m but instead having a fresh fruit and vegetable juice to start the day, filling myself with nutrients while letting my body rest and restore. I’m hoping this is something I can do long-term, finding the right balance for me, and laying down an
easy simple rule which will help me to have a really good relationship with food and my body. Post-pregnancy there is so much change to deal with, to identity, body, habits, and I want to use this new start to channel all the changes I must make in life to be as healthy and happy as I can be.
The best way to fight inflammation is with food and the best thing to have is a fresh fruit and vegetable juice packed with goodness. I am starting everyday with a fresh juice. Carrot, celery, spinach, kale, beetroot, berries, apple, ginger, turmeric root, lime or lemon. Sometimes purple, sometimes green. They’re wonderful. Breakfast often leaves me feeling tired.
a fresh juice gives me a lift!
One of my fruity favourites is beetroot and berry, it’s so sweet and tangy. I always pack it with spinach, carrot and lime, and add turmeric root if I have some, and it makes me feel so good. I have listed the ingredients in the order of amounts I use with approximate measures, you can just go for it and make it how you like. I use frozen berries, thawed (otherwise they don’t juice), blackcurrants, redcurrants, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries… nature’s gorgeous goodness for summer gods and goddesses ♥
- Spinach, about 50g
- 3 medium carrots
- 2 cups of berries
- 1 medium beetroot
- 1 Apple
- 1 lime
- Turmeric root, about 5cm, or a tsp of powdered
Juice everything except the lime.
Squeeze on lime juice .
